These tools measure the quantitative relationships between various features of your course. They both work only in the Top View.
This tool measures the straight line distance between two points.
Click on a point in the Top View with this tool. Then click on a second point. A straight line appears between the two points.
Information about the line appears in the Status Bar. L is the length of the line, H is the difference in height between the two points and A is the elevation angle between the two points. If the first point is higher than the second, H and A will be listed as negative amounts.
To stop before you make the second click or to make the line disappear, right-click on either end point of the line and choose Cancel Tool.
This line is very elastic. Its end points can be dragged anywhere in the Top View to let you measure the distance between any two points in your course.
This tool measures the angle between two features on your course.
Click on two points in the Top View with this tool to form a straight line. Click on two different points to form a second straight line. Unless you are very precise and have an uncanny sense of direction, these two lines will not be parallel. If extended far enough, they will intersect. The angle at which they intersect is shown in the Status Bar.
This comes in handy when you want two features in a precise relationship to one another. For instance, suppose you want to make a bunker at a 30-degree angle to a fairway you already have. Click the Angle tool, then click at each end of the fairway to get a baseline. Click again where you want your bunker to start. As you move the cursor around, the angle listing changes in the Status Bar. When you've got the angle at, or near, 30 degrees, extend the line to where you want the other end of the bunker, then click again. Use the Polygon tool to select an area having those two end points, then fill it with sand.
To make the lines disappear, right-click on an end point of either line and choose Cancel Tool.
